Smart Scribe belongs to Mr. Stéphane Héquet, an individual entrepreneur registered with the RCS of Tours under the SIRET number 53241847200017, and located at 6 rue Jean Joinville in Fondettes (37230), France.

Description of the service

Smart Scribe provides an automatic audio transcription solution through a Software as a Service available at https://app.smartscribe.co, allowing to convert the content of audio and video files into text. The supported audio file formats are the following: .mp3, .wav, .mp4, .mpeg, .mov, .flac, .ogg, .mpeg3, m4a, .aac, .aiff, .3gpp and .wma.

Smart Scribe makes available to all users a custom-made text editor to facilitate the proofreading and the correction of the transcripts. Smart Scribe users can review and modify the content of their transcripts at any time.

Smart Scribe allows users to export their transcripts in one of the following formats: .docx (Word Document), .pdf (Portable Document Format), .odt (Open Document), .json (JavaScript Object Notation), .txt (Text File), .srt (SubRip Subtitle).

Price of the service

The price per hour for the automatic transcription service is 10€ (incl. taxes). We offer a sliding price scale according to the volume of hours purchased.

The use of the tailor-made text editor allowing you to correct and refine your transcripts, as well as the export and download of your transcripts in one of the available formats, are free and do not entail any additional cost.

For our perfect transcription service, where your transcripts are proofread and corrected by a professional transcriptionist, we offer a fixed price of 2,5€ per minute (incl. taxes).

Free trial

When you sign up, we offer you 15 free minutes of automatic transcription to allow you to test Smart Scribe.

Upon successful registration, we automatically credit your Smart Scribe account with 15 minutes of automatic transcription. This allows you to try our automatic transcription software with an audio or video file with a duration inferior to or equal to 15 minutes.

If the audio or video file you want to convert to text is longer than 15 minutes, we either invite you to cut your file to reduce its duration to a maximum of 15 minutes, or to purchase hours (in addition to the 15 minutes offered) to enable the complete transcription of your file.

The free trial is valid only once per person, household, or company. Any fraudulent attempt with the objective of taking advantage of multiple free trials will result in the permanent deletion of accounts and transcripts created on Smart Scribe.

Refund policy

Refund of unused credit

We offer a refund for any remaining transcription credit that has not been used. This means if you have transcription credit remaining in your Smart Scribe account, you are entitled to request a reimbursement for the unused credit, the refund amount will be calculated in proportion to the price paid at the time of your order.

No refund for consumed transcription credit

Any transcription credit that has been utilized is not eligible for a refund. This applies regardless of the user’s satisfaction with the quality of the automatic transcription. We have implemented this policy to maintain fairness and sustainability in our services.

Free trial for quality assessment

To help you gauge the quality and suitability of our transcription services for your needs, Smart Scribe offers a free trial to each new user upon registration. We strongly encourage you to use this trial to determine if our transcription services meet your expectations, and before making any purchase of credit for your transcriptions.

Quality concerns and feedback

While we do not refund consumed transcription credit, we highly value your feedback. If you have concerns about the quality of our transcription services, please contact us. Your input is vital to continuously improve the quality of our transcription services.

Changes to services

Smart Scribe reserves the right to modify or discontinue services, either temporarily or permanently, with or without notice. However, any pre-purchased transcription credit will be eligible for our refund policy.

Refund policy updates

We may update this refund policy from time to time. We encourage you to review it periodically.

Access and use of the service

Access and use of the service require the creation of a user account. The user must create an account to benefit from the service, as long as he has suitable IT equipment to access the service and a valid personal or professional email address.

Access and use of the service, including the automatic audio/video transcription process, the tailor-made text editor allowing to refine transcripts, and the download of transcripts, are provided and authorized on a temporary basis and are subject to these terms and conditions of use.

Smart Scribe does not guarantee the availability of the website or any service provided on the website.

Smart Scribe reserves the right to revise, change, modify, or delete the content of any portion of the website and/or any service it provides on the website at any time and without prior notice, in its sole discretion.

Smart Scribe accepts no liability for any interruption of the service, for any defect, error, or bug related to the service, or for any loss of data.

Smart Scribe reserves the right to terminate access to all or part of the website or to the service provided, in its sole discretion and with or without prior notice.

License to use

We grant you a license to use the service provided and made available on the www.smartscribe.co website and app.smartscribe.co application. You may not use the service other than as specified in these Terms and Conditions of Use without our prior written consent.

You must accept the Terms and Conditions of Use while creating a user account. If you do not accept these Terms and Conditions of Use, your user account cannot be created.

Limitations of liability

The service and content are provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis. Smart Scribe expressly disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, that may relate to the quality of transcription, to the fit for a particular purpose, or to the inaccuracy of the Content of the website.

Although every care is taken to ensure the security and privacy of user personal data, Smart Scribe assumes no liability for any theft or loss of data. By accepting these Terms and Conditions of Use, you acknowledge that any personal information or file transmitted to Smart Scribe could be intercepted.

Smart Scribe does not guarantee that the website, the servers hosting the website, or the electronic communications sent are free of viruses or any other elements harmful to the user.

You must accept the Terms and Conditions of Use while creating a user account. If you do not accept these Terms and Conditions of Use, your user account cannot be created.

Smart Scribe website (https://www.smartscribe.co) as well as the Smart Scribe application (https://app.smartscribe.co) are the exclusive property of Mr. Stéphane Héquet and are therefore protected by copyright and intellectual property rights. Unless otherwise specified, the content published on the website and the application may not be reproduced, transmitted, published, or distributed in any form whatsoever.

Applicable law and jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France. Any dispute arising between the customer and Smart Scribe, attributable or related to the service provided by Smart Scribe shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Commerce Court of Tours (France).

GDPR Compliance

The processing of personal data by Smart Scribe complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which aims to protect the personal data of European citizens and give them more control over how their data is used.
